Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 cups milk or heavy cream for extra richness
  • 12 oz pasta penne, rotini, or fettuccine
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat olive oil in a large deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook for 5-6 minutes, breaking it up until browned.
  3. Stir in garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in beef broth and milk. Stir well.
  5. Add pasta and Italian seasoning, making sure the pasta is mostly submerged.
  6. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is tender.
  7. Reduce heat to low and stir in parmesan cheese and butter until melted and creamy.
  8. Adjust seasoning if needed. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of milk or broth.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley and extra parmesan.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm on the stovetop or in the microwave. Add a little milk if the pasta has thickened. Optional: Add veggies like spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor.
