Ingredients
  

For the Toast
  • 1 loaf garlic bread (store-bought frozen or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp butter (if making garlic toast from scratch) For spreading on bread
For the Filling
  • 1 lb steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank), thinly sliced Use a high-quality steak for best flavor
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For cooking steak
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced For sautéing
  • 1 medium bell pepper (optional), sliced Add for extra flavor
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced For added garlic flavor
  • 1.5 cups shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese For topping
  • 1 tsp salt To taste
  • 1 tsp pepper To taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley or Italian seasoning For garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Bake garlic bread according to package directions, or make garlic toast from scratch by spreading butter mixed with garlic on bread slices and toasting until golden.
Cooking Steak
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the steak with salt and pepper, then sear for 2–3 minutes per side until cooked to your liking.
  3. Remove steak from skillet and set aside.
Sautéing Veggies
  1. In the same skillet, cook the onion (and bell pepper, if using) until soft and caramelized.
Assembling the Toast
  1. Place garlic bread slices on a baking sheet.
  2. Layer with steak, sautéed veggies, and shredded cheese.
Broiling
  1. Place under the broiler for 2–3 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Garnish with parsley or Italian seasoning and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and separate components for best freshness. Reheat under the broiler for crispiness.
