Ingredients
  

For the Sandwiches
  • 1 loaf 1 loaf of bread (white, whole wheat, or rye) Choose a sturdy yet soft bread.
  • 1 medium 1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced Preferably sliced right before serving for crispness.
  • 4 oz 4 oz cream cheese, softened For added flavor, mix in herbs or spices.
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon fresh dill or parsley, chopped (optional) Optional for garnish and flavor enhancement.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste Season to preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Spread a generous layer of cream cheese on each slice of bread.
  2. If using, sprinkle the chopped dill or parsley over the cream cheese for added flavor.
  3. Layer the thin cucumber slices on top of the cream cheese.
  4. Season with a little salt and pepper.
  5. Cut each sandwich into quarters or halves, depending on your preference.
  6. Serve open-faced on a platter.

Notes

These sandwiches are best served immediately after preparation to keep the bread fresh and the cucumbers crisp. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and consume within a day.
