Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Trim any excess fat from the brisket, leaving a thin layer for flavor.
- In a small bowl, mix together salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Rub this mixture all over the brisket.
Cooking
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned (about 4-5 minutes per side).
- In a large baking dish or roasting pan, combine barbecue sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Mix well.
- Place the seared brisket into the sauce mixture, ensuring it is well-coated.
- Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven.
- Allow the brisket to cook for 4 to 5 hours, or until it is fork-tender.
- Once cooked, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
- Slice the brisket against the grain and serve with the remaining barbecue sauce.
