Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, cook the pork sausage and chopped onion until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and press the dried hash browns into the bottom to create a crust.
- Spread the cooked sausage mixture evenly over the hash browns and sprinkle 1 cup of cheddar cheese on top.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Pour this mixture over the layers.
- Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese.
Baking
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-50 minutes. Look for set eggs and a golden brown top.
- Let the casserole cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
