Ingredients
  

Main ingredients
  • 1 8 oz block 8 oz block (225 g) goat feta cheese, cut into 1/2 inch or 1/2 cm cubes You can use regular feta cheese if preferred.
  • 1 ea 1 egg Beaten for coating.
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup (30 g) all-purpose flour or glutinous rice flour for gluten-free Gluten-free option available.
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup (120 g) sesame seeds For coating the feta.
  • Oil as needed Oil (olive oil for authenticity or vegetable, sunflower, or canola for frying) Use enough to generously cover the pan.
  • 4 tbsp 4 tbsp (80 g) mild honey To drizzle before serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Beat the egg in a medium, shallow bowl. In a separate shallow bowl, add the flour. Place sesame seeds in a third shallow bowl or plate.
  2. Heat enough oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
Coating Feta
  1. Dip each cube of feta cheese in the beaten egg, allowing excess egg to drip off.
  2. Roll the cube in the flour to coat, then dip it back in the egg and finally coat it with sesame seeds. Place each coated cube in the hot oil.
Frying
  1. Pan-fry the feta cubes until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Flip occasionally for even cooking.
  2. Remove the feta cubes from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving
  1. Drizzle with honey just before serving or offer a small bowl of honey on the side for dipping.

Notes

Best served warm. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Reheat briefly in a skillet for crispness.
