Preparation
- Take the feta out of the package. If it was stored in brine, rinse it first but don’t dry it off.
- Place the feta in a bowl, sprinkle with flour, and turn to coat. Press the flour onto the cheese as much as possible.
Cooking
- In a small skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Carefully place the feta into the hot oil. The cheese should sizzle right away.
- Cook for about 4-5 minutes until it becomes deep golden brown on one side.
- Flip the feta carefully and cook for another few minutes until golden on the other side.
- If it starts to burn, lower the heat a bit.
- Once golden, transfer the feta to a warmed serving plate.
Serving
- Squeeze some lemon juice over the top, then sprinkle with thyme leaves and sesame seeds.
- Drizzle honey over the feta to taste and serve immediately.
Notes
Best served hot right after cooking. Pairs well with warm pita bread, fresh vegetables, or salad. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to two days but note the texture might change upon reheating.
