  • 4 slices slices of bread Use day-old bread for the best results.
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk You can substitute with non-dairy milk, if desired.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • to taste Butter or oil for cooking
  • to taste Maple syrup for serving
  • optional Powdered sugar for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a little butter or oil.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak briefly.
  4. Place the soaked bread on the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with maple syrup and sprinkle powdered sugar on top, if desired.
  2. Add fresh fruits like berries or bananas, and consider a side of crispy bacon or sausage.

Notes

French toast is best served hot off the skillet. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
