Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a baking dish, layer half of the turnip slices on the bottom.
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream with butter, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until warm but not boiling.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the turnip slices, then sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining turnip slices, cream, and cheese.
Baking
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or microwave. Thinly slice turnips for even cooking. Experiment with cheese varieties. Add paprika or fresh chives for extra flavor.
