Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla until the mixture is smooth.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder together. Gradually add this dry mixture to the chocolate mixture until well combined.
- If you’re using chocolate chips, fold them into the batter now.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool before cutting them into squares.
Notes
For serving: These brownies are delicious on their own, but serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with chocolate or caramel sauce for extra sweetness. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days. You can refrigerate them but let them come back to room temperature before serving.
