Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla until the mixture is smooth.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder together. Gradually add this dry mixture to the chocolate mixture until well combined.
  4. If you’re using chocolate chips, fold them into the batter now.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool before cutting them into squares.

Notes

For serving: These brownies are delicious on their own, but serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with chocolate or caramel sauce for extra sweetness. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days. You can refrigerate them but let them come back to room temperature before serving.
