Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 16 oz frozen blackberries, thawed, juices reserved Fresh blackberries can also be used.
  • 4 cups fresh basil leaves Fresh basil works best for flavor.
  • 2/3 cup sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Place the blackberries and their juice in a medium saucepan and lightly mash them with a fork.
  2. In a food processor or blender, combine the basil, sugar, orange juice, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.
  3. Stir the blended mixture into the blackberries. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Cooking
  1. Boil the mixture until it thickens, about 25-30 minutes, and reaches a temperature of 220 degrees F.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat, then pour the jam into a clean jar and let it cool until it thickens, about an hour or until at room temperature.

Notes

Store the jam in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. Can be canned for longer storage. For texture, lightly mash the blackberries and leave some chunks. You can add other fruits or spices for variations.
