Ingredients

For the French Toast Bites
  • 3 large large eggs
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk of choice
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 ounces hearty white bread such as sourdough or day-old French bread, cut into large cubes (about 4-5 slices)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Avocado oil or parchment paper for lining
For Topping
  • powdered sugar
  • maple syrup
  • strawberries

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, and salt until well combined.
  2. Add the bread cubes to the bowl and mix well using tongs or a rubber spatula until the bread is soaked.
  3. Sprinkle cinnamon over the mixture while stirring to ensure it is evenly distributed.
  4. If there is still egg mixture left in the bowl, let the bread sit for another 2-3 minutes and then stir again.
Cooking
  1. Wipe the air fryer basket with avocado oil or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Place the soaked bread cubes in the basket in a single layer, making sure they don’t touch each other.
  3. Air fry at 350°F for 7-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  4. Cook until the bites are crispy and golden brown.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately with powdered sugar and maple syrup. You can also add fresh strawberries or any fruit of your choice.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for better absorption of the egg mixture. Feel free to add nutmeg or vanilla for enhanced flavor. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket.
